COVID-19: US surpasses 180,000 virus Deaths: Johns Hopkins

The death toll from the new Corona virus in the United States has exceeded the threshold of 180,000 deaths, according to data published Thursday evening by Johns Hopkins University, which is considered a reference in tracking injuries and deaths resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Johns Hopkins data as of 20:30 pm on Thursday (00:30 GMT Friday) showed that the total deaths from the virus in the United States rose to 180,527 deaths, including 931 deaths recorded during the past twenty-four hours.

As for the cumulative number of laboratory-confirmed infections with the virus in the United States, it increased, according to the same source, to more than 5.1 million, including 42,859 infections recorded during the last twenty-four hours.

On the other hand, more than 2.1 million people infected with the virus in the United States have been declared cured of Covid-19 disease, according to the university, which is based in Baltimore, Maryland (northeast).

The United States is, by a wide margin from the rest of the world, the country most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, whether in terms of deaths or injuries.

In recent weeks, the number of new infections recorded daily in the United States has decreased, but this country is still far from emerging from the health crisis.
